NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN 2099 is a contemporary art festival powered by the collective thinking of WOOLOO.ORG's worldwide users.

NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN 2099 will take place as official part of the cultural program for the United Nations (UN) Conference for Climate Change in Copenhagen, Denmark from December 9th to 18th, 2009.

To challenge the discourse surrounding our future co-existence on this planet - while simultaneously questioning the forms of governance being produced by the UN's nation-based power structure - NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN has adopted the general theme of “2099”.

The festival curators invites artists to submit proposals for products, life styles and everyday interventions, as they could look and function in the year 2099.

All proposals should include one or more participatory elements that invites the global public to take part in the processes of the work. Selected works and projects will be exhibited and practically implemented in the everyday life of Copenhagen during the festival period.

Proposals should be submitted via WOOLOO.ORG by March 31st, 2009.

In the year 2099, every politician having attended the 2009 UN Conference will be dead and only their decisions will live on.

So much we know for (almost) sure. But what about the UN itself? Will the concept of “nationality” still be relevant in 90 years? Will a city like Copenhagen still be regarded as a geographical place - or rather as a specific mindset that its global citizens has chosen to follow from wherever they live on the planet?

Set against the backdrop of global environmental debates, NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN 2099 aims to step far beyond the traditional role of the art festival as passive exhibition platform and become an active organizer of powerful artworks, re-thinkings and experiments in collaborative social innovation.
