JUROR: Michael D. Barnes
Associate Professor of Art and Head of the Printmaking program at
Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

ELIGIBILITY
This exhibition is open to any artist 18 years of age or older.
Original contemporary works in traditional and nontraditional
printmaking media including book arts, three-dimensional and mixed
media prints are eligible. All submissions must have been completed
within the last three years. Straight or purely digital prints and
photography are not eligible.

JUROR:
Michael D. Barnes is currently an Associate Professor of Art and Head
of the Printmaking program at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb,
Illinois, where he has taught since 1998. Barnes received his BFA from
Alma College, Michigan, in 1991, and his MFA from the University of
Iowa in 1996, both with a focus on printmaking.

Barnes has presented over twenty solo exhibitions since 2000, including
shows at Shy Rabbit Contemporary
Arts, Pagosa Springs, Colorado; Street
Level Gallery, Highwood, Illinois; the OIA - Gallery, New York City;
Anchor Graphics, Chicago; and Cervini Haas Gallery, Scottsdale,
Arizona.

His work has also been included in numerous group exhibitions including
Loyola University Museum of Art, Chicago; Davidson Galleries, Seattle;
Printworks, Chicago; Koplin Del Rio Gallery, Los Angeles; and the
International Print Center, New York.

Barnes has been the recipient of numerous awards, grants, and
residencies, including an Illinois Arts Council Grant and residencies
at the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium; The Bemis Center of
Contemporary Art in Omaha, Nebraska; the Plains Art Museum in Fargo,
North Dakota; and Anchor Graphics at Columbia College in Chicago.

Barnes’ work has also been exhibited internationally in over 100
competitive group exhibitions, including exhibitions in Great Britain,
Ireland, Wales, Poland, Taiwan, Estonia, Japan, Romania, Finland, and
the Republic of Macedonia.

His work is included in many collections, including the Museum of Fine
Art, Boston; The Royal Museum of Art, Antwerp, Belgium; the City of
Vaasa, Finland; The Plains Art Museum, Fargo, North Dakota; and many
university and private collections.
