Call for proposals
to be considered for
The Artist's Studio: An Artist in Residence Program
at One Colorado, Pasadena, CA

The Armory Center for the Arts and One Colorado invite artists to apply for
a three month
paid Artist in Residence program that is a unique opportunity for an artist
who enjoys
interacting with the general public in a retail environment. The program is
designed to bring
art into a public space where both the artist and the public will learn from
and be inspired by
the interactions.

* The Artist¹s Studio will revolve on a 3-month basis with one artist
residency at a time. The
first residency will be July 16 through October 15, 2009. The next residency
will begin
October 16, and conclude in early January, 2010.
* Artists will receive a $500 honorarium as well as studio and exhibition
space, publicity, and
public access.
* This residency is only open to artists residing in Los Angeles County.
* This is an innovative program that merges an artist's studio, an Artist in
Residence
program, and artist's exhibition space into one unique location that
incorporates public
access to both studio and exhibition spaces.
* The Artist's Studio will be divided into front and back spaces.
Front: The front entrance space functions as an exhibition space
for artists to
exhibit a sampling of their work, utilizing existing walls. The Armory
Center will take
care of the sales of all works of art and receive a 25% commission.
Back: The back space will serve as an artist¹s studio and space
for group tours.
* The artist-in-residence will be responsible for opening and closing The
Artist's Studio and
will be required to open the space a minimum of 24 hours per week.
Recommended hours
are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. three days a week. Details about the Artist in
Residence and
scheduled hours of operation will be posted at the entrance of the space,
and on the
Armory and One Colorado websites.
* Artists will also be responsible for facilitating tours of the exhibition
space and studio to the
public a maximum of two times a week. These tours will be promoted in One
Colorado
publicity, at the entrance to the space, and on the Armory website. All
scheduling will be
facilitated by Armory gallery staff.
* Artists will be responsible for transportation of artwork, tools, and
materials to and from the
space. The Armory and One Colorado reserve the right to change the location
with 15 days
notice if necessary.

Proposals will be reviewed by Jay Belloli, Armory Director of Gallery
Programs; Robin Faulk,
Marketing Director, One Colorado; and Sinead Finnerty-Pyne, Armory Gallery
Exhibitions
Manager.

Please note that the Armory Center for the Arts and One Colorado cannot
assume any
responsibility for loss, theft or damage of art, art materials, or tools
during the exhibition.
