Details:
Join ArtCorps and volunteer your creative talents to strengthen sustainable development in Central America in 2011. Our artists use murals, theater, stories, puppetry and other creative facilitation techniques to educate and inspire people to participate actively in improving the environmental, health and social conditions in their communities. Every ArtCorps artist works directly with a local development organization that is an expert in its field, training both community members and organization staff in our field-tested Art for Social Action methodology. Through participatory art, artists strengthen dialogue between community members and the organization, improve community education and empower local leadership. Partners include organizations such as Wildlife Conservation Society, World Neighbors and Ecologic Development Fund. Spanish fluency is required. Visit our website to learn more!

ArtCorps Artists:
• Work as a volunteer and live in a host community from January 2011 through December 2011. (Artists have the option to extend their stay for a second year if agreed upon by the host organization.)
• Receive room and board, medical insurance, a small personal stipend and a budget for project materials.
• Receive training in Art for Social Action and technical assistance and support from ArtCorps staff in the region.
• Uphold the mission and values of ArtCorps as the sole ArtCorps artist in the host community.
• Communicate fluently in Spanish.

How to Apply:
ArtCorps is expanding in 2011 and these new partnerships mean more opportunities for Community Artists.
