Event Sales Coordinator

The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), in Long Beach, CA is searching for an Event Sales Coordinator. This position is responsible for selling the venue for events and will be responsible for facilitating all banquets and parties from start to finish. The Event Sales Coordinator reports to the Museum Events Manager.

This position offers a benefit package, including paid holidays, health, dental insurance, and Simple IRA plan. Salary DOE- plus commission

Essential Functions:
• Sell and market all areas of the facility that include a multi-purpose room and an outdoor event Sculpture Garden
• Works with the Museum Events Manager to develop strategic planning for selling and marketing of outside events
• Works with the Museum Events Manager to develop annual event sales goals and budget
• Responsible for independently managing the approved event sales budget
• Directs, coordinates, and continually evaluates banquet operations
• Facilitate all banquets and parties from start to finish
• Is always available to answer any questions and deal with any problems the client may have during the events
• Coordinates and staffs accordingly for each event
• Works closely with catering staff
• Oversees set up and tear down of every event, making sure everything the client requested has been delivered and/or performed and that staff is breaking down in a timely manner
• Meet with potential clients on a continual basis and closing the sales based on the services provided
• Invoices and draws up contracts for clients
• Maintains all records for events sales in Cater Plus
• In charge of cash control and reporting on all outside events in a timely manner
• Follow-up on all signed contracts guaranteeing deposits and final payments from the clients before each event occurs
• Guarantees all services ordered from client are correct and have been properly coordinated
• Required to work a varied schedule that include evenings, nights, and weekends
• Required to spend time out of the museum ensuring sales of events
• Must be willing to attend networking events
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge /Skills/Experience Required:
• AA degree required
• 2-4 years experience in events, sales or catering
• Strong sales skills
• Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite and catering software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Maintain a strong presence at all times
• Excellent time management skills and exceptional detail in follow-up
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Good sense of aesthetics, elegance and refinement to sell museum events
• Enjoy working with people
