FILM CONTEST: Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration (deadline November 17)

Attention Los Angeles County-based filmmakers: The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is currently accepting short film submissions by Los Angeles County-based aspiring and professional filmmakers to feature in the 51st Annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration telecast on Friday, December 24, 2010.

Eligible films may be no longer than 2 minutes long and must incorporate the theme "childhood memories from the holidays." Submissions are due on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.. A panel of Holiday Celebration producers will select the top films and will make them available in a publicly viewable forum by Wednesday, December 1, 2010. The public will be invited to vote on their top three film selections and the winners will be featured on the television broadcast of the 51st Annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration. Filmmakers whose short films appear on the program will receive an honorarium of $1,000 each.

The Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration is a free public event that honors the spirit of many cultures and holiday traditions through music, song and dance and takes place every December 24th at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles and broadcast on local PBS stations in Southern California. More than 7,000 people attend the program each year and over a million Southern Californian households tune into the television broadcast.
