Call for California Glass, Wood, Fiber, Clay, Metal & Stone Artists

The 2nd City Council (2cc) Art Gallery is pleased to issue its next two calls for artists. Of the Earth: Glass, Wood, Fiber, Clay, Metal & Stone runs from Dec. 2, 2006 – Jan. 11, 2007. The exhibition is open to all California artists working in these mediums.

Juror Carol Sauvion, is a ceramist and the founder /owner of Freehand Craft Gallery in Los Angeles. She is the originator, executive director & co- executive producer of a multimedia project Craft in America which includes the PBS documentary series Craft in America to be aired nationally in 2007. The intention of the series is to celebrate craft by honoring the artists who create it. In addition to the PBS series, the project includes a traveling exhibit and a companion book, educational DVD and a website.

Sauvion has juried numerous exhibitions including the 2006 Smithsonian Craft Show, at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C., which is the nation’s most prestigious juried exhibition and sale of contemporary American craft.

Entry Deadline is Sun. Oct. 29, 2006.

Awards - $500, $300, $200, and $100 plus the infamous eye-opener statue.

Entry fees are $ 10 per entry for members and $ 12 per entry for nonmembers. Volunteer hours (in the gallery or online) are accepted in lieu of entry fees but must be completed prior to notification deadline.
