Artists Alliance announces open call for rotating studio program, deadline May 3

LOWER EAST SIDE - ROTATING STUDIO PROGRAM 2011-12

Artists Alliance (AAI) is pleased to announce its Open Call for the Lower
East Side Rotating Studio Program (LES-RSP) 2011-12 sessions. Supported by
the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the
City Council, the LES-Rotating Studio Program provides two FREE six- month
residency sessions to 8 visual artists a year. Additionally, beginning in
2011, Artists Alliance (AAI) and Residency Unlimited (RU) are joining forces
to support each other's programs. Residency Unlimited will provide studio
visits and specific networking support to the artists participating in the
Lower East Side-Rotating Studio Program. As part of the exchange and AAI's
Art(Inter) Actions program, Residency Unlimited will program a series of
exhibitions in the summer from its roster of international artists in
residency.

What the residency offers:

Six-month long residency
Free studio space (see description)
Access to the studios 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Opportunities to present works to curators, critics, arts professionals, and
the general public
AAI organizes Open Studios during each session and an annual curated
exhibition of all 8 residents at Cuchifritos gallery/project space, a
program of AAI located in Essex Street Market
Studio visits and specific networking support through partnering
organization Residency Unlimited (RU)

Located in the vibrant and historically significant multicultural
neighborhood of the Lower East Side, the AAI Studio Programs underscores
AAI's mission of strengthening and developing connections between artists
and the broader community. The LES-RSP Studio Program is open to emerging
and mid-career artists from all cultural backgrounds and disciplines -
painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation and new media will be
accepted. Artists without a studio are encouraged to apply. Open to US legal
residents only.

Session 1 begins July - December, 2011
Session 2 begins January - June, 2012

Artists may apply for both sessions

Application Deadline: Tuesday May 3, 2011 (received by)
Cuchifritos Gallery and Project Space (120 Essex Street, NYC 10002. Located
in Essex Street Market), will be open for Hand Delivery regular gallery
hours. Tuesday-Sunday from 12-6pm.
Getting there: J, M, Z & F trains to Delancey/Essex.
