Brighton Photo Fringe is pleased to launch Open 2011, an experimental open submission platform for both photographic artists and curators.

• Open 2011
During the interim period between the 2010 and 2012 festivals, Brighton Photo Fringe in partnership with Metro Print and Phoenix Brighton will be holding Open 2011. Open to everyone everywhere, Open 2011 will be an international platform that enables artists and curators to work together to explore the possibilities of photography and exhibition formats.

Mentor curator Charlotte Cotton (writer and curator, Creative Director, National Media Museum, London) will work closely with a group of selected curators to develop an exhibition in dialogue with the selected artists. Selected works will be printed, mounted and framed by Metro Print and the exhibition will be held at Phoenix Brighton from 19 November to 18 December 2011.

Open to everyone everywhere. Applicants do not need to have previous curatorial experience.

Curators Submission Materials:
Completed application form.
CV or description of relevant experience. Maximum 2-pages A4.

Open to everyone everywhere working with photographic and lens-based media.

Photographers and Lens-Based Artists Submission Materials:
1. Up to 10 examples of existing works, e.g. photographs, moving images via hyperlinks, publications, webworks. Maximum 10MB in total.
2. Proposal for new work or intervention (optional).
3. Completed application form.
4. Artist's CV. Maximum 2-pages A4.
5. £10 submission fee. Paid via PayPal.

• About Brighton Photo Fringe
Brighton Photo Fringe is an artist-led organisation that supports photographers and lens-based artists by creating platforms, coordinating participatory projects and opening up exhibition spaces. Showcasing the best of current photographic practice, Brighton Photo Fringe aims to increase access to and participation in high quality photographic exhibitions and events.

Every two years Brighton Photo Fringe coordinates a city-wide festival in partnership with Brighton Photo Biennial.
