2012 THEMATIC APPROACH:

The |FAT| 2012 theme fashionSCAPES mirrors the notion of landscapes; vast, unique, seasonal and ever changing. Artists are invited to respond to fashionSCAPES by investigating one of four sub themes set out for each evening by the festival; land, city, body, future.

land++++++
Exploring global landscapes and physical environments. Artists reflect on land both as a physical space determined by geography, texture, the elements and nature; and land as a global place determined by boundaries, people and places.

city++++++
Transitory and in the now, the night surveys art influenced by metropolises and man-made environments; streets, structures and cityscapes. It examines how architecture, communication, technology, consumerism and urban life shape city cultures and trends.

body++++++
Artists investigate the human form as a playing field for expressing identity, sexuality and gender. Through seduction, manipulation, exaggeration and movement, they conceal, reveal, morph and sculpt bodyscapes, defining the body's limits and possibilities.

future++++++
The theme examines art that looks forward into the unexpected, inventive, extreme or imagined. New materials, technology, media and innovative processes define indefinite possibilities and futurescapes.
