Windward School, a grade 7-12 college-preparatory, independent day school in vibrant West Los Angeles, seeks a technically savvy and experienced educator for a position as a Media Arts and Rhetoric Teacher.

Job Description:
œ In collaboration with the Visual Arts Chair, the primary responsibility of the faculty member will be to develop and implement Middle and Upper School curricula in Design, Visual Rhetoric and Presentation; Sound Design; and Animation.
œ In collaboration with the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, the secondary responsibilities will be to provide technical and advisory support for subject matter teachers and their classes engaged in multimedia projects
œ Is responsible for creating a welcoming environment in the Center for Teaching and Learning, which reflects the school fs mission, as a college preparatory school, of challenging each student to achieve academic excellence within a nurturing atmosphere in the Digital Media Commons and Broadcast Studio.

Qualifications:
œ Masters degree preferred in education with a focus on multimedia arts, or a Masters degree preferred in the cinematic arts with significant teaching experience
œ Expertise in sound design and production, animation design and production, and working knowledge of film/video design and production
œ Expertise in the rhetoric of visual storytelling with a wide range of multimedia forms, as well as oral and visual presentation skills
œ Very strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Must also demonstrate experience working in a team-oriented environment.

Skills:
œ At least 3-5 years of digital video experience using Apple fs Final Cut Studio, DVD Studio Pro, multi-track audio recording and editing software such as Audition, Soundtrack Pro or ProTools; animation and motion graphic experience using ToonBoom Studio and Apple fs Motion or Adobe After Effects; audio experience using Avid fs ProTools, Adobe fs Audition, Apple fs SoundTrack Pro.
œ Demonstrated understanding of all aspects of the production process (e.g. lighting, audio, etc.).
œ Expertise with capturing digital media using the Apple platform and peripheral hardware.
œ Familiarity with consumer level applications like iMovie, GarageBand, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
œ Ability to plan and schedule complex productions, organize and manage student production teams, and meet deadlines.
