DJCAD MFA Programme

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, part of the University of Dundee in Scotland, offers a one year MFA programme. All forms of art practice are embraced, from media-based sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, audio and video to the non-media-specific such as performance, installation, (durational) work in the public domain, writing (critical, and writing-as-visual-art) and curating.

The MFA Programme

• seeking highly motivated students who want to be part of a vibrant artistic community
• the MFA course aims to challenge and extend its students' work and relationship to the visual world
• students are encouraged to transcend boundaries by exploring visual knowledge and expression across a range of platforms
• students will investigate historical and contemporary positions in art and visual culture through exposure to ideas in artistic research, aesthetics, anthropology, critical theory and curatorial practice
• Teaching includes one-to-one sessions, group critiques, seminars, exhibitions, performances, conferences, workshops, salons and study trips
• Students are encouraged to engage in studio-based practice, research-based work and (interdisciplinary) seminars with international visiting artists and speakers
• the MFA course leads to a curated public exhibition, the Masters Show

Scholarships

Scholarships ranging from £500 GBP to £2000 BBP are available. More information on scholarships can be found on DJCAD's website.

Applications

Applicants should have a first or upper second class honours degree in a visual discipline. Those with other qualifications or relevant professional experience will also be considered.
Apply online via UKPASS (www.ukpass.ac.uk) with a 300 – 500 word project proposal and an electronic portfolio of 20 images.
