Job Title: Executive Director, Levitt Pavilion Pasadena Announcement Date:
07/17/12
Organization Overview
The Levitt Pavilion Pasadena (“LPP†) is a non-profit organization founded
in 2003 to offer 50 free concerts each summer in historic Memorial Park in
the City of Pasadena. LPP is committed to serving the local community,
celebrating its diversity, inspiring its youth through music, and enriching
cultural lives of its residents through its annual summer concert series.
In 2003, the Memorial Park band shell was refurbished from grant monies and
donations provided to the City of Pasadena. It was transformed into the
Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts. Thanks to the efforts of its
dedicated staff and artistic director, the Levitt has since become one of
the premier free summer concert series in the LA area and has developed an
acclaimed reputation for offering diverse entertainment. Featuring
Grammy-winners and world-renowned artists, the Levitt Pasadena summer
season attracts over 60,000 attendees each year. Levitt Pavilion Pasadena
has been voted “Best Live Music Venue†by Pasadena Weekly readers
consistently over the past several years. This year, Levitt was awarded the
2012 Readers' Choice Award for “Favorite Los Angeles Large Live Music
Venue†by About.com, beating out such well-known venues as the Hollywood
Bowl, Disney Concert Hall, the Ford Amphitheatre, and the Greek Theatre.
Visit www.levittpavilionpasadena.org to learn more about LPP and view
videos highlighting the summer concerts at the Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena.

Although the concerts are free to the public, the Levitt has a $500,000
annual operating budget. Grants and foundations support a significant
portion of these annual expenses. Given the challenges presented in the
current economic climate, the Levitt must diversify and expand its funding
base in order to maintain the high quality of programming its audiences
have come to expect.
Our new executive director will be faced with replacing an executive
director who has been with the Levitt Pasadena since its inception. The
candidate must understand the Levitt’s mission and appeal, the diverse
makeup of our community, and the transformative power of the music at our
venue. The candidate would ideally be a music lover, in order to
passionately promote the organization and its impact in the community.
He/she should be a hands-on administrator who is comfortable managing
budgets and fundraising. This person must have the management experience to
oversee a small but dedicated staff, as well as the ability to interact
with our Board of Directors, comprised of local executives and community
leaders. The candidate must be a strong communicator, since he/she will be
responsible for marketing/public relations and community outreach, and
therefore must effectively share LPP's mission with corporate leaders,
foundation officers, individual donors, and the general public. He/she must
have a proven track record of fund development and will be charged with the
task of expanding our corporate contributions while maintaining our other
sources of income (grants, events, and individual contributions).
