LA Commons works to create cultural connections among LA neigborhoods through cultural tourism and the creation of temporary works of public art created by youth artists and professional artists that share the unique stories of LA neighborhoods.

Job Description
The LA Commons Project Associate will work as a core member of the LA Commons Community Arts team under the direction of the LA Commons Community Arts Director. The Project Associate will serve in a key role in managing, facilitating, and marketing the work of LA Commons Community Arts Projects in South LA Corridor and additional neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Projects include: Intensive neighborhood based youth artist workshops(age 15-25), adult workshop series (new in 2013), and family events such as story sharing summits and the Leimert Park Mask Festival.

Specific duties:
Production manage the story gathering celebrations and events for each community arts project; Finalize logistics and assist with permission process and follow up for arts sites; Manage information flow of project lists, budgets, timeline for the projects; Develop marketing and outreach strategies to raise public awareness of the projects through social media and other venues; On site hosting of specified workshops and delivery of project supplies; Provide general office and programmatic support as needed

Skills, Knowledge, or Other Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft and internet applications; Strong sense of professionalism and willingness to work with others; Ability to take initiative
•Strong organizational skills; Interest and experience in the visual arts; Interest in community arts as an avenue for sharing stories, building community and creating opportunities for youth artists to share their talents and further develop their artistic and leadership skills; Team work; Photography and graphic design skills; Transportation; Familiarity and experience with South LA Communities; Saturday afternoon (1:30pm-5pm) availability Mid April-late June

This is a paid position approximately 12 hours per week February-December 2013. Salary commensurate with experience.
