Fine Arts Postgraduate Program

Deadline for applications:
May 24, 2013

Recruitment for session starting
October 2013

Research Program Post-diplôme

The ENSBA offers a one-year, postgraduate program with an international orientation, for five artists who have acquired a Master's degree (or DNSEP).

Promoting transmission over education in the traditional sense, the postgraduate program, based in the School of Fine Arts, Lyon, invites five young artists from different geographical backgrounds, who are already actively engaged in the art practice.
During this year-long program the artists are invited to elaborate on their individual work and will be given full access to the school's facilities and studios. The development of individual work will be challenged through constant critical interaction, the creation of collective projects and opportunities to travel and meet with international artists and art practitioners.
At the turning point between the sheltered environment of the school and exposure to the world, the postgraduate program involves a social experience based on openness towards others, which will hopefully create a certain destabilization for the participants.

The Postgraduate Art Program Lyon, 2013–2014:

- this thirteenth session will include five young artists (painters, sculptors, video artists, performers, photographers…) for a one-year residency.

- during the selection process, the jury will focus on the autonomy of the artist, demonstrable artistic qualities and the potential for exchange with others members of the group.

Supervision:

Francois Piron is an art critic and curator. He is a founder member of the independent exhibition space castillo/corrales in Paris and the publishing house Paraguay Press. Between 2001 and 2006, he co-directed Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers, a multidisciplinary art center, and has organized numerous exhibitions, recently at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Museo Nacional Reina Sofia in Madrid and the Serralves Foundation in Porto.

Material conditions:

- The successful candidates will each receive a grant of 4,000 EUR, paid in two installments.

- collective accommodation is offered to the residents on the site of the art school. In other locations, possibilities for accommodation will be proposed.

Conditions for admission to the postgraduate course:

- Applicants must hold a higher diploma (Master's degree) from a recognized national or international school of art, architecture, etc.

- a shortlist will be drawn up on the basis of the applications
