POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor �Illustration - Animation
EFFECTIVE DATE: August 27, 2007

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MFA in studio art or equivalent record of extraordinary professional achievement. Candidate must demonstrate a strong visual imagination, skills in animation and drawing, and demonstrate a broad understanding of the principles of animation. Ability to communicate and work effectively within an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous teaching experience at the college level and an outstanding record of nationally recognized professional achievement. Desired qualifications also include image-making skills with an emphasis on the figure, character design, illustration, and familiarity with computer applications relevant to art, illustration, 2D and/or 3D animation and knowledge in motion graphics, and animatics.

DUTIES: Within the Illustration Program, help coordinate an animation track that would provide a broad range of animation experiences including character design, storyboarding, and animating. Help identify and recruit part-time faculty, act as program liaison with professionals in the field of animation and teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Additional duties to include student advisement, curriculum development, and
committee work and other service in the department, college and university. The Retention, Tenure and Promotion process at the department, college and university levels involves review of the individual's ongoing activity in the areas of teaching and teaching-
related activities (including curriculum development, student advising and involvement in student activities); creative, scholarly and professional activity; and service to the department, college, university and community.

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience.

Include examples of work by applicant's students in the form of a DVD reel and/or still images (35mm slide or digital on disk). Also include SASE large enough for return of documentation materials. Applicants may also wish to include copies of their performance evaluations from prior teaching experience, copies of publications about their work, and other additional forms of documentation of their work or work by their students.
Digital images should not exceed 800x600 pixels, and should be presented either as a collection of JPEG files in a folder along with a caption list, or captioned images contained within a single PDF. NO POWERPOINT.
Additional supporting materials, including sample syllabi, may be required of finalists.
