JOB: Advocacy Manager, Arts for LA

Arts for LA seeks a dynamic individual with demonstrated
community organizing experience to join our team as our Advocacy
Manager. Below is the full description and instructions on how to

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing all
components of the community arts education advocacy team
initiative to support arts education in public schools,
including:

* Develop SWOT analysis in each team community.
* Create community profiles in each team community.
* Recruit and train local community leaders to
participate in the advocacy team initiative.
* Forge relationships with potential community partners.
* Survey candidates running for school board and city
council in Los Angeles County.
* Conduct advocacy training for new and existing advocacy
teams.
* Provide technical assistance to existing advocacy teams
in creating advocacy plans and developing presentations for
school board meetings and meetings with district administrators.
* Disseminate relevant arts education information to
candidates, partners, and stakeholders
* Assist in maintaining web pages for the Arts for All
community advocacy teams
* Make recommendations on how to strengthen the community
advocacy program for the future.
* Contribute to the overall mission, programs, and
operations of the organization.

In addition, the Advocacy Manager must be able to work in a
dynamic, creative, and team-centered organization that values
21st century skills.

The position requires the ability to read, write (formally and
informally) and analyze research as well as public policy. This
motivated person will enjoy public speaking and collaborating
with a variety of state and local community representatives. Arts
for LA is an equal opportunity employer and offers its employees
medial/dental as well as vacation. The position is a 40-hour per
week contract position and does include some evenings and
weekends. Must have a vehicle with appropriate insurance
coverage. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Additional Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public
policy, political science, sociology, communications, arts
administration, or related field; successful candidate must be
able to communicate with all sectors/levels of diverse
communities; bi-lingual English/Spanish; good presentation
skills; a minimum of four years community organizing experience
preferred; knowledge of Los Angeles arts communities, arts
organizations, education communities and, arts education a plus.
