LarkGallery Online, in collaboration with the West Hollywood Arts and Cultural Affairs Comission and the Russian Advisory Board, will bridge the multi-generational, culturally and religiously diverse, international communities of West Hollywood's East Side with a two-month art exhibition and educational activities exploring the global roots of each culture’s art.

"Find Your Roots- Fine Art and Music Competition

The theme of our new competition is "Find Your Roots". As Marcus Garvey says it so perfectly: "A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots".

We invite our participants to look closely at their family and community roots, and reflect on their cultural, religious and philosophical backgrounds. During the art exhibition, music events, educational workshops and discussions are planned to further the inquiry into the roots of one's cultural tree by using the exhibited artworks as examples of this introspection. The exhibit and programming will take place in the building near Plummer Park, considered the heart of the Eastern European immigrant community of West Hollywood.

Selection and Prizes:

All submitted high quality art work will be exhibited online in "Find Your Roots" on-line exhibition and linked to artist's website for a year. All art will be also available for online sales.

10 artists and 3 musicians will be selected to participate in brick-and-mortar "Find Your Roots" exhibition and events.

First, second and third prize winners will become LarkGallery Online Represented Artists/Musicians for a year, and receive a custom-tailored personal web page with a value of $500.

Our Mission is to present art that evokes thinking, leads to discovery and inspires  creativity by building bridges between people, concepts and entities that have been  traditionally considered incompatible.  We work to increase the visibility of  talented artists from around the world and to foster appreciation of art by teaching   people of all ages a 21st century language. We use the conversations of color,  shape, texture and line to demonstrate that communication can be free of prejudice  toward any language, religion or philosophy.
