AMP: Artists' Meeting Place and Resource Collective

A Noise Within, California’s home for the Classics, is currently seeking Acting Interns for our Spring 2014 Season. Productions include Tartuffe, Macbeth, and Come Back, Little Sheba.

Learn what it takes to be part of a professional classical theatre company, performing three productions in rotating repertory! Acting Interns are challenged to apply their talents in all areas, from analyzing a classic text to running lights and sound for a production. Acting Interns are eligible for the Equity Membership Candidate Program.
TUITION
$550.00 for 12 weeks of Conservatory Classes. Housing is not provided. A limited number of scholarships are available. Your $50 application fee is applied towards tuition if you are accepted in the program.
CASTING
Each acting intern is cast in a supporting role in one or more plays during the repertory season. Interns may also be given understudy assignments.
TRAINING
Interns are immersed in 120 + hours of training designed to develop the whole artist. Course topics include: acting Shakespeare, speech, textual analysis & scansion, a scene study course that culminates with an Intern Scene Night presentation for an invited audience.
TECHNICAL ASSIGNMENTS
Interns gain hands-on experience in one technical department (stage management, props, costumes, sets, lights, sound) and are a part of the changeover crew that facilitates the repertory schedule.
SCHEDULE
Interns must be available between January 13th and May 27th, 2014 for classes, rehearsals, performances and technical calls during the following hours: Monday – Friday 6-11pm and Saturdays/Sundays (Day/Evening – depending on the rep schedule and intern assignment). Additionally, interns must be available to perform a limited number of mid-week matinees as scheduled.

Auditions are two contrasting monologues, one of which must be Shakespeare, not to exceed three minutes total.
