LOOP Barcelona is proud to announce the DISCOVERY Award, a project by LOOP, sponsored by Estrella Damm.

The Discovery Award is a free open call for artists' videos and films.

LOOP commits to promoting the awarded work through its network, in the festival and to include it in future exhibition projects, according to the curators' criteria in each case. Furthermore, the awarded work will be considered to be included in the LOOP Collection and its author will receive a 5.000 € prize.

In addition, the 10 finalists + 1 finalist voted by the audience will be featured in an exhibition, at the former Estrella Damm beer factory, included in the program of LOOP Barcelona 2015.

This year's jury is comprised by:

– Bartomeu Marí, MACBA director;
– Javier Duero, curator and cultural producer;
– Julia Morandeira, independent curator;
– Martí Peran, curator, critic and professor at the UB;
– Carlos Durán or Emilio Álvarez, representing LOOP.

Application is free and the deadline is April 17th.

________

The Discovery Award has been created with the aim to support and recognize the recent production of videos and films by international artists through a free open call to the artistic community. This LOOP Barcelona initiative is supported by Estrella Damm, who sponsors this first edition of the prize, in line with its longtime support to the cultural sector. Furthermore, the exhibition featuring the finalist projects, included in the program of LOOP Barcelona 2015, will be hosted by Estrella Damm in its Antigua Fábrica (former beer factory) in Barcelona, giving the audience the opportunity to enjoy the works in an exhibition format.

With the aim of fostering a space for the promotion of video art works, the Discovery Award also creates an online video channel, in which selected works to the second stage of the competition will be available for viewing and voting.

The Discovery Award encourages artists to participate and the public to enjoy the best international artistic creation.
