Greenway Arts Alliance is seeking a full-time Director of Student Programs. Reporting to the Founders, this position will start in July 2015 in preparation for the 2015/16 school-year.

MISSION:
Located on the campus of Fairfax High School in the historic Greenway Court Theatre, Greenway’s mission is to unite communities through art, education and social enterprise. Through professional theatre productions, educational programs and the Melrose Trading Post, Greenway has been building a vibrant artistic community in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles since 1997.

Since its inception, Greenway has modeled an innovative partnership with Fairfax High School to leverage resources that connect the professional artistic and public education communities with a commitment to learning and cultural creation through its student programs.

STUDENT PROGRAMS:

Greenway Institute for the Arts (GIA): Greenway offers both in-class and after-school Arts Education programs in theatre, dance and multi-media at zero cost to Fairfax students.

Internships: 20-30 paid student interns work across all Greenway departments throughout the calendar year.

Volunteers: Through school clubs and organizations, Fairfax students provide meaningful community service throughout the school year to assist in the operation of the Melrose Trading Post.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

1. Student Program Development: Strengthen the infrastructure required to expand and deliver exceptional programming. In collaboration with the Founders, develop and administer all curriculum and lesson plans, evaluations, reporting and documentation. Supervise 5-10 part-time Teaching Artists and the Program Coordinator.

2. Program Operations: Develop and implement best practices in order to promote efficiency in all aspects of student programming. Prepare annual operating proposals that align with Greenway’s overall strategic plan, outlining attendance goals and program/project timelines. Manage the GIA workrooms, including maintaining inventory and scheduling.

3. Finance: Ensure effective management of financial resources in order to preserve and promote financial integrity and viability of the department. Prepares annual program budgets, in collaboration with the Founders and Director of Operations.

4. Interdepartmental: Presence at staff and departmental meetings, cultivate open and effective communication with the Founders, Director of Operations and other Greenway departments.

5. External Relationships and Communications: Nuture positive relationships - working collaboratively with Fairfax teachers, administrators, parents and community partners to leverage resources. Attend school functions such as New Student Orientation, Homecoming and Graduation. Manage marketing for the program, including websites and social media.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Undergraduate degree required

Minimum 3 years of proven progressive experience that demonstrates a deep knowledge of program development, evaluation and best practices
· Experience in arts, youth-based and/or community based organizations will be given priority
· A non-profit background is a benefit to the applicant but not required
Appreciation of arts education, public education, high school students and diversity
Adept at working in a complex organizational environment; solid people-skills, leadership and management techniques
Effective oral and written communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Keen sense of utilizing social media for communicating with youth; grasp of WordPress a plus
Spanish language a benefit to the applicant but not required

A background check will be required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
$4K per month for 10 months (roughly August-May), mirroring the Fairfax school year
Medical insurance, with two weeks additional paid vacation + holidays
