Tabakalera - International Centre for Contemporary Culture's key features is its transversal nature, acting as a crossroads where different disciplines can coexist. Tabakalera aims to inspire reflection on contemporary issues via a programme of seminars, workshops, screenings, exhibitions and publications. It creates a critical community by supporting creation, knowledge and exhibition programmes that are aimed at both a specialist audience and the general public.

Tabakalera, as a centre for the creation of art, also develops a residency programme to support artists and cultural agents. The residencies are a key tool within the Tabakalera project, enriching the cultural programme developed within the centre, integrating external agents into the dynamics of the cultural programme, and promoting the internationalisation of the project by encouraging encounters between the international and the local contexts.

This programme's main aim is to provide support and assistance to artistic processes, both at a conceptual and production level. With this programme, in addition to others currently being run by Tabakalera, we are trying to generate a space where different artists, agents and their projects can coexist to promote potential collaborations between residents and invited guests.

These residencies, which can last between four and eight weeks, will offer space, context and time for the development of artistic projects. From all the proposals received, two projects will be selected from each modality; these modalities include: production of an artistic project, local/non-local and curator residency.
