The Vagrancy, a Los Angeles based critically acclaimed and award-winning
theatre company, is seeking an Apprentice Artistic Director for its
2016-2017 Season.

The Vagrancy creates visceral work that seeks to touch the human spirit by
forging new, lesser-known, and classical works with that ineffable
something. Duende. This season The Vagrancy is producing Shakespeare’s
*Macbeth* in October 2016 and the World Premiere of Vagrancy Writer Cort
Brinkerhoff’s *Horse* in June 2017.

The Apprentice Artistic Director will receive an introduction to the
workings of a nonprofit membership company theatre, focussing particularly
on the role of the Artistic Director and the Artistic Director’s
responsibilities and relationships amongst the various administrative and
production departments, creative teams, Board of Directors, and the
community.

Under the supervision of Artistic Director, the Apprentice Artistic
Director will include an opportunity to observe and participate in company
activities through the course of a season. They will act as co-producer on
the fall production of *Macbeth * and direct scene study with acting
ensemble. They will observe company meetings, design meetings, and the
overall administration of running a company. There may be an opportunity to
grow into the Co-Artistic Director, develop and direct a play with the
writers group, and direct a full production with the company during the
2017-2018 season.

Requirements:
The candidate will have a strong desire to run a nonprofit theatre company.
Must have a strong willingness to learn and a natural knack for
organization and getting things done on a deadline. Directing and
producing qualifications a plus. The successful candidate will be creative
and passionate about theatre and have the ability to work in tandem with a
Board of Directors and the Artistic Director. The candidate must be
interested in fulfilling The Vagrancy’s Artistic Mission. Previous
experience is a plus, but not a must. We encourage candidates to apply that
have drive, but are still looking for professional experience. Stipend
available.
