The Goethe@WRO residency program for German artists is organized since 2012 by WRO Art Center and the Goethe-Institut Cracow. Now we expand our artists-in-residence program with new partner on board, the A-i-R Wro platform, affiliated at the ECoC Wrocław 2016.
We look for young and middle-aged German artists working with video, installation, performance, public space, digitization and archiving in relation to new forms of distribution. The residence focuses on creative processes and mutual exchange. The elected artists are free to discover Wrocław, the European Capital of Culture, to continue their previous projects or develop new ones, but they necessarily have to interact with the WRO's audiences. These interactions may take form of an artist talk, workshop or other activities fitting our Art Mediation program.
Residence artists are chosen by a jury consisting of the WRO Art Center curators and representatives of Goethe-Institut.

What we offer:
The elected artist will be offered a scholarship, a travel cost refund and a material cost refund in total amount of 8500 PLN. He or she will spend one month living in a single-room apartment and working at the WRO Art Center. We will support the artist-in-residence with logistic, technical and curatorial assistance and the access to the audiovisual collection of Polish and international media art. The artist will be invited to participate in current activities carried out at the WRO Art Center; we will also take care of proper documentation of the residence project and its international promotion via wrocenter.pl and related websites.
