Otis College of Art and Design is pleased to announce the launch of a new residency program to take place from June 4 through 25, 2017. The L.A. Summer Residency at Otis College of Art and Design offers an opportunity for artists and designers to work side-by-side in an immersive three-week residency within the vibrant art and design community of Los Angeles.

Participants will have multiple opportunities to engage with the professional art and design community of Los Angeles through portfolio reviews, critiques and discussion with leading museum curators, gallery directors, and with prominent art writers; a one-day professional development seminar; exposure to world class artists, curators, and thought leaders during evening panel discussions and lectures; and guided visits to leading contemporary arts venues in Los Angeles.

"Los Angeles is a destination of choice by artists and designers of all kinds and this is an inspired moment to launch an L.A.-based residency program," said Clayton Campbell, special consultant to the president's office. "Having designed many artist residency programs, this is the first that has at its core the principle of full-on engagement with the professional arts community."

Through unfettered access to Otis College's advanced production studios, the residency provides participants an opportunity to produce unique work and investigate new ideas. Areas of specialization include: ceramics; digital media (video and animation); furniture design; jewelry; letterpress and book arts; new genre; painting; photography; sculpture; silkscreen; 3D printing; and wood and metal work. Accepted artists and designers will be hosted in Otis College's new housing and dining complex on its Goldsmith campus.

Participants will be selected through a competitive application process, and limited fellowship opportunities are available for early applications.
