The University of the Arts Bremen is a university of art and music with two faculties: Music and Art & Design. With its ideal medium size, interdisciplinary range of studies and excellent facilities, the HfK offers around 900 students the best conditions to prepare themselves for their personal artistic careers with about 65 professors, 200 lecturers and teachers as well as other artistic and academic junior researchers.

Music is made at the heart of Bremen’s historic city centre, just a stone’s throw from the town hall, statue of Roland and marketplace, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The Art & Design Faculty is located in a modernised warehouse in Bremen’s former docklands known as Überseestadt, which is now a centre for creative minds and business start-ups.

The insides of both listed buildings are in tune with the times. Fully equipped workshops and highly professional recording and editing studios containing the latest technical equipment are available for students to use as well as practice rooms and exhibition space—from rustic jazz cellars to artists’ studios flooded with light.

Great emphasis is put on practical experience at the University of the Arts Bremen: both musical and artistic—creative artists of the future contribute to the cultural offerings of the Hanseatic City in numerous exhibitions and concerts throughout Bremen. Frequent prizes awarded to students and lecturers at the University of the Arts Bremen testify to the repeatedly high quality of the artistic further education.
