Dear friends of TMoFA,

"The Taoyuan International Art Award" (TIAA) was launched in 2020 and is organized by the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, established in 2018. It aims to encourage cultural heterogeneity in contemporary art worldwide. The core mission of TIAA is to promote cultural diversity in contemporary art globally and to discover artistic propositions that embody modern viewpoints. Selected artists will receive support from the museum to realize their exhibition plans. We hope that this international project will transcend geographical boundaries and attract artists from various nationalities, regions, backgrounds, ages, and stages of their artistic careers. Through this international competition and creative exchange, we aim to foster community exchanges among global art creators. We are pleased to share that in recent years, we have collaborated with curators from different iconic institutions and organized an international jury for each session, furthering our goal of promoting community exchanges among global artists.

The “2025 Taoyuan International Art Award” (TIAA), will open its global call for entries online from 1 to 26 April, 2024. The jury of the 2025 edition also comprises international art professionals including Abby CHEN (head of contemporary art at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco), Reuben KEEHAN (curator of contemporary Asian art at Queensland Art Gallery|Gallery of Modern Art), Sunjung KIM (artistic director of Art Sonje Center in Seoul), Po-Wei WANG (artistic director of Digital Art Foundation), and Pei-Yi LU (associate professor at National Taipei University of Education). With distinct artistic expertise and interdisciplinary thinking, the jury members form a robust panel to review the entries.

The "Taoyuan International Art Award," now entering its third edition, has gradually gained international recognition. The TIAA has received support from the Taoyuan City Government, and the total prize money awarded amounts to NT$1.55 million. This time, the “Sojourn Award” limited to a Taiwanese artist with NT$350,000. The award will help Taiwanese contestants to travel abroad and have a chance to win a prize coordinated by the museum and the Institute France in Taiwan. Potential units of the Art Residencies will provide the winners with more residency opportunities, expand their vision through international exchanges, and support artistic talents with deep creative potential.

For the “2025 Taoyuan International Art Award,” the museum seeks new works presented to the public for the first time and have never entered government-organized competitions in Taiwan. The competition is open to participants of all nationalities, whether individuals or groups, and welcomes artists from all over the world. Submissions can be made online from 1 to 26 April, 2024, by registering on the official website (https://tmofa-tiaa.com/) before the deadline. The detailed prospectus for the award is available on the website.

Please help to spread the information. The museum is very much looking forward to getting to know the excellent artists recommended by you!
