Filmmakers with a fondness for flora, fauna, and other fine features of the natural world are invited to submit entries to a film festival that focuses on environmental issues. The festival will be held from September 12 to 16 in New Delhi, India. Application deadline: May 31.

Organized by the New-Delhi based Center for Media Studies (CMS), CMS VATAVARAN is a competitive biennial film festival that seeks to raise social awareness about the environment and promote conservational activism and public policy. The festival is supported by Down to Earth and the Government of Delhi, and endorsed by UNESCO.

This year's competition will present 17 awards in 12 categories, with prizes ranging from INR50,000 (about US $1,190) to INR150,000.

Categories include Nature and People, Water for All, and Animal Behavior. Journalism-related award categories include Public Service Announcements, TV News Stories, and the Young Environmental Journalist prize. Indian and international films will compete in separate categories.

Non-filmmakers can register to attend the festival as a delegate. The early bird registration deadline is May 31. Early registration fees range from US $11 to US $150, depending on nationality and student status.
