Fishin' (Not Too Deep)

The work was begun upon receiving a invitation to participate in an thematic exhibit involving water/the sea. The work is made from the remains of a delicious Dungeness crab caught off the coast of Oregon, some stoneware elements salvaged from lipworks damaged in firing, a piece of earthenware found on an Italian hillside, a fragment of a naturally-cleft piece of black slate, sheet lead leftover from another sculpture project, the marble agitator from a can of spray paint, a taxidermist's glass duck eye, and an old fish hook.

A humorous metaphor to explore the essential drama of life within the ecosystem of our watery planet.
