CALL TO ARTISTS—Free Exposure and LARGE Canvases

The Eco-LogicalART Gallery is at it again—offering artists huge
exposure and BIG canvases… A bit more info; for five years the
nonprofit Eco-LA gallery has been providing canvases made of recycled
billboard vinyl and offering them free to artists in exchange for
display on the exterior of the gallery. To date original works
painted on the material have resulted in over 50k in sales.

On Earth Day 2007, besides interior pieces for its "Off The Wall/3"
show Eco-LA was able to secure display time from CBS Outdoor and Van
Wagner Outdoor. Five original 14 x 48 foot works painted on recycled
billboards were "on exhibit" for a month across the skyline of Los
Angeles. Displayed for over 6 weeks the images were seen by more than
10 million times.

OTW/3 was followed by "ReVisions", a 12-billboard public art event in
Jan. of '08. It is estimated the works were seen over 20 million
times. We then went on the road. "Revisons/SF"-- ten original art
works on display across the Bay Area, premiered in April on Earth Day
2008 and were seen over 500k times daily thanks to the donation of
time donated by CBS Outdoor and Clear Channel. Smaller works went on
view in the Thoreau Center at the Presidio where $7000.00 of art was
sold.

I'm now planning "ReVisions/Las Vegas" for Jan of 2009. Besides the
huge billboard art I'm hopeful that we will secure
conventional "gallery" space in one of the casinos for smaller
pieces. The big images will be 10' by 13'—3 artists to a vinyl and
some single 14' x 48' pieces executed by one artist. Starting in
late October artists will be able to paint in the gallery or in some
cases their own (large…) studios. The gallery and the painting
process will be open to the public. On any given day 4-6 artists
will be working at the same time. Work will be completed by Jan 1,
2009.

So… if interested please direct me to your website or send some small
jpegs. The next step-- if selected, is a study, as all artwork must
jump through some corporate hurdles (but they've been pretty cool so
far). Outright political imagery, graphic nudity, language is not
going to make it. From experience bold images translate best to the
scale of the project and the way it is viewed. "Eco" themed works are
welcome, but not the focus of the exhibit. We see what we're doing as
presenting public art. For more info, press, and to view past
billboard art pieces visit the website at www.eco-la.org
