2009 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Spotlight on Brooklyn
We are accepting animation, documentary, experimental and narrative films in short and feature lengths by independent filmmakers who live or work in Brooklyn, as well as films that are principally made in Brooklyn and/or films that are about Brooklyn.

8th Annual Women of African Descent Film Festival
We are accepting films by youth, college and independent filmmakers in animation, documentary, experimental and narrative categories, in short and feature lengths, by women filmmakers of African descent – local, national and international (including screenwriters, directors and producers).

Cash and other prizes for outstanding film submissions will be awarded.

Scene: Brooklyn, Brooklyn Arts Council's re-invigorated and re-named 43rd annual film and media arts program, will feature several exciting events in the spring of 2009 to be presented at the newly redesigned Galapagos Art Space in Dumbo and the Spike Lee Screening Room at LIU.

the Eighth Annual Women of African Descent Film festival
an industry panel with film and media arts professionals discussing current issues and trends
a perennially popular screenwriting workshop given by award winning screenwriter, Ella Thier

Scene: Brooklyn is made possible, in part, by public and private funds from Con Edison, the Experimental Television Center's Media Arts Technical Assistance Fund, Independence Community Foundation, and New York State Council on the Arts. The Experimental Television Center's Media Arts Technical Assistance Fund is supported by the Electronic Media and Film Program of the New York State Council on the Arts.

BAC programs are made possible, in part, with public funds from the Brooklyn Delegations of the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and New York City Council and its Brooklyn Delegation.
