Cornerstone Theater Company is now seeking applications for the annual
Altvater Fellowship.

Cornerstone's Altvater Fellowship Program provides educational and
professional development to individuals interested in theater and
community. Altvater Fellows explore a wide range of experiences in the
planning and creation of a Cornerstone production. Over an eight-week
residency, Fellows work full-time with Cornerstone's Ensemble and
Staff on many aspects of current community collaborations as well as
immersion in the unique culture of the company.

This year Cornerstone offers one Altvater Fellowship that will focus
on all aspects of the 2009 Cornerstone Institute Summer Residency with
a production and/or producing focus. Applications are available now
and the deadline to apply is February 20.

The Altvater Fellowship is a full-time position that requires a
consecutive eight-week commitment between May 1 and August 15, 2009.
While the Fellowship includes a stipend of $2,000, travel and lodging
costs and arrangements are the sole responsibility of the chosen Fellow.

Cornerstone Theater Company
Cornerstone is a multi-ethnic, ensemble-based theater company. We
commission and produce new plays, both original works and contemporary
adaptations of classics, which combine the artistry of professional
and community collaborators. By making theater with and for people of
many ages, cultures and levels of theatrical experience, Cornerstone
builds bridges between and within diverse communities in our home city
of Los Angeles and nationwide.
We believe society can flourish only when its members know and respect
one another, and we value theater made in that spirit. We value art
that is contemporary, community-specific, responsive, multilingual,
innovative, challenging, and joyful. We value theater that directly
reflects the audience. We value the artist in everyone.
