ISO: JA woman who became single mother in 1980s for art project

I am developing a new performance (title: "WHAT? NO PING-PONG BALLS?") about my late mother's life story, emphasizing her experiences as a single mom in the 1960s. As part of the piece, I am interviewing Asian American single mothers of various decades - 60, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, etc., to include their experiences in comparison and contrast. I am having difficulty finding someone who became a single mother in the 1980s. Japanese American is ideal (more specific to compare with my mother's experience), but I will consider any Asian ethnicity.
