Jane Ortner Educating Through Music Awards deadline extended!
Attention K-12 public and private school teachers who integrate music
into your classroom curriculum! The GRAMMY Museum is excited to announce
the 2011/2012 Jane Ortner Educating Through Music Awards, honoring
teachers who use music as a way to teach content standards. Jane Ortner
was a devoted and beloved public school teacher who recognized the
critical importance of music in the education of students at all levels.
Through the generosity of the Ortner family, The GRAMMY Museum is
pleased to honor Jane Ortner's memory with the establishment of an
annual award that recognizes public and private school teachers, from
kindergarten through high school, who successfully incorporate music
into their classrooms.
McGroarty Arts Center presents The Art Fair & Gallery. It is a special opportunity for visual artists from the local community to exhibit and sell their work in two curated gallery spaces and outdoor booths. This split presentation format allows artists to present their work, even if it they prefer not to display it in the curated gallery. Visual artists working in all mediums are encouraged to enter the event, though the gallery portion will favor two dimensional works such as paintings, photographs and fiber art.
Submissions for all types of 2D artists in all mediums. Deadline Feb. 7.

The Autry seeks a motivated and creative Designer to join the Exhibits
Department for a 1-year, limited-term position. You will be an integral
member of the department, working on a variety of projects, including
print pieces, environmental signage, and 3-dimensional graphics and
environments.
Responsibilities
The Designer works closely with project teams to develop, manage, and
maintain the immediate and sustained value of the visitor experience.
He/She will develop changing exhibition and permanent collection
materials in a method that supports the best in experiential learning
and communication design.
Essential functions include: collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
for exhibit development; prepare design visuals to communicate creative

The Byrdcliffe Artist in Residence Program provides uninterrupted time, creative space and an inspiring environment to artists of exceptional talent. Month long residencies are available to visual artists, composers, playwrights/screenwriters, and writers of fiction, nonfiction and poetry in the months of June, July, August, and September, 2012. It is Byrdcliffe's mission to provide solitude in a creative community and uninterrupted time in which to concentrate on producing independent and enduring creative work alongside fellow artists.
Opened in 1903, the Byrdcliffe Art Colony was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1979 for its architectural and historical significance. It is located in the Catskill Mountains, 1.5 miles from the center of Woodstock, New York.
