The first stage of the open, international competition for a Freedom and Unity Memorial in Berlin has now begun! The submission date is 10. March 2009.

On 9. November 2007 the German parliament decided that the Federal Republic of Germany will erect a Memorial to Freedom and Unity, in memory of the peaceful revolution of Autumn 1989, and as a memorial to movements and efforts undertaken over the centuries to achieve unity and freedom. The German parliament agreed on the main issues of the competition on 4. December 2008.

The Arts Council for Long Beach and the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency
announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) to select artists for temporary
public artwork for vacant storefronts in redevelopment areas within the City
of Long Beach.

Historical / Cultural Background
The City of Long Beach is one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse
cities in the nation. As the fifth largest city in California, Long Beach
plays an important role in shaping the identity of the state. Long Beach is
an attractive and accessible coastal gateway that serves as an important
tourist attraction and is home to the Queen Mary, Boeing Aerospace, the Long
Beach Aquarium, an expansive beach front and one of the largest ports in the
world.

ATTIC THEATRE SEEKING CO-PRODUCTIONS FOR OUR THEATER

The ATTIC Theatre & Film Center is accepting proposals for co-productions at their Culver City theater. There is no up front rental fee, however certain theatre running costs will be deducted from box office revenue. After those fees are paid at box office will be split 50/50. The ATTIC will provide box office and house management at each performance. All other staffing will be provided by the producing company. Productions will be able to run from 2 weeks to 6 weeks depending on the project.

Submission Deadline: 20th February 2009 (postmark)

This is a call for fixed media electroacoustic audio-visual music works
exploring the interaction between sound and image. Works should be cohesive
audio-visual entities and not just video/film with a soundtrack or music
with a video/film track. The audio within these works should be
electroacoustic in nature.

Works are requested for a PhD research project investigating audience
reception of differing styles of audio-visual composition and the role of
composer intention in facilitating audience reception of electroacoustic
audio-visual music works. This research builds upon the foundations laid by
