The Capricious Award provides one photographer with the resources and editorial support to bring a body of work to fruition in book form. Each year the award is juried by photographers, critics and curators with the intent to select a photographer whose work is both distinct in point of view and boldly relevant to the unfolding issues of our time.

The Watermill Center is seeking an Artist Programs Manager for our residency programs.
The Artist Programs Manager is a position reporting to The Watermill Center Director. Working closely with the Facilities Director and Watermill Center Assistants, the Artist Programs Manager is responsible for managing The Watermill Center’s (WMC) year-round Artist Programs. These programs include the Artist Residency Program, International Summer Program, Inga Maren Otto Fellowship, and Nina von Maltzahn Fellowship. The Artist Programs Manager will work collaboratively with WMC’s Public Programs, Communications, Development, and Finance teams to support essential activities related to the Artist Programs.

Cultural Affairs has launched the open call for the 2021-22 cycle of the NYC Public Artists in Residence (PAIR) program. Established in 2015, PAIR was inspired by artist Mierle Laderman Ukeles' residency with the Department of Sanitation, which she pioneered in the 1970s. Based on the idea that artists are creative problem-solvers, the program embeds artists in City agencies to propose and implement solutions to pressing civic challenges.
