Job Opening: Festival Producer

The Board of Directors of the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles
(IFFLA) is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial and experienced Festival
Producer. The Festival Producer will report to the Executive Director
and Board of Directors and will be responsible for delivering a
successful film festival.

The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) is nonprofit
organization devoted to a greater appreciation of Indian cinema and
culture by showcasing films, supporting emerging filmmakers,
recognizing the leadership of entertainment industry performers and
business executives, and promoting the diverse perspectives of the
Indian diaspora.

Each year the Festival is held at the ArcLight Hollywood and features
a rich mix of film programs designed to build and support the growing
interest in the Indian entertainment industry. This includes
programming that cultivates an audience for Indian films while
supporting filmmakers of Indian descent in career development as they
navigate the larger studio system in Hollywood.

Compensation:
Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Part time August – January & May-July. Full time February - April.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing a high degree of visibility in the community,
strengthening community relationships, and serving as chief
spokesperson for IFFLA along with the Executive Director, Chair and
President of the Board of Directors;
• Establishing an effective fundraising infrastructure and taking an
active role in development activities to expand funding streams,
including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and grants;
• Supporting the Executive Director in partnering with the Board for
effective leadership of the organization, including helping to further
develop the Board;
• Overseeing dynamic programming for the Festival and any other
IFFLA-sponsored festivals/events. Observing, tracking and describing
emerging themes and trends in Indian cinema;
• Working closely with the Festival Manager in recruiting, hiring,
training, and evaluating staff;
• Providing management direction to the staff through a team-work approach;
• Managing IFFLA in a fiscally responsible manner within the
Board-approved budget and in accordance with accepted non-profit
financial accounting practices;
• Reporting to the Executive Director.

Successful applicants will have the following experience and characteristics:

• Three years non-profit arts organization management at Director
level or higher;
• Strong organizational leadership and strategic planning skills that
would enable him/her to maximize existing programs and develop new
directions;
• Demonstrated ability to embrace diversity and develop programming,
educational opportunities, and special events that powerfully engage
diverse populations;
• Familiarity with Indian film, the Indian filmmaking community, film
festivals, the film industry, commercial and independent as well as
international cinema;
• Strong network of film community and film industry contacts;
• Commitment to developing and growing audiences to be more diverse
and reflective of the entire community;
• Ability to leverage current and cultivate new strategic corporate,
non-profit, and educational partnerships (local, national,
international);
• Ability to deal with rapidly shifting priorities;
• Good public speaker;
• Strong writing skills, especially in crafting compelling corporate
sponsorship presentations and proposals;
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, including direct experience
with individual giving and corporate sponsorships;
• The ability to partner with and motivate the Board, and to direct
and mentor staff;
• Effective financial management skills;
• A strong work ethic, good sense of humor, sincerity, a high energy
level, and a strong commitment to teamwork;
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task while keeping the big
picture in mind;
• Motivating skills for a wide range of staff and volunteers;
• Diplomatic skills bringing together the Indian and the American
entertainment industries.
