Visitor Services Associate

Part-Time/Non-Exempt

The Japanese American National Museum is a new model for American museums
dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening community through the
exploration of diverse histories, arts and cultures. The National Museum is
currently seeking a Part-Time Visitor Services Associate to work 20 hours a
week with a preferred schedule of Thursday evenings, Saturday and Sundays.

Visitor Services Associates are responsible for creating an inviting,
professional environment for museum entrance. Associates provide front-line
customer service in the Lobby and on the phone. Duties include process
museum admission, direct all incoming phone calls, and disseminate general
information. Will be required to provide occasional support to the Museum
Store and Membership unit.

High School graduate with vocational training in office skills or a retail
store setting that required serving the public. Prior experience as a
receptionist, sales clerk, or clerk typist in an office setting preferred.
Dependable in attendance and punctuality. Bilingual or multilingual oral
skills a plus. Sensitivity to Japanese American and Asian American history,
culture, and community required. At least one year of prior experience in
customer service. Familiarity with reception lobby tasks or similar
operations that deal mainly with the general public as customers.
Familiarity with point of sale system and handling money. Knowledge of
Japanese language and background knowledge of Japanese American history a
plus. Requires ability to multi-task with strong interpersonal,
communications and organizational skills, including telephone etiquette.
Computer literate (MS Office) and Cash register experience preferred. VISTA,
Camdata and Raiser's Edge database experience preferred. Visit our website
