*Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) provides underserved youth with exceptional
programs in academics, arts and athletics within a nurturing environment,
empowering them to develop their potential, pursue their education and
strengthen their communities.*

*Position Summary:*
HOLA’s Teaching Artist is responsible for visual arts instruction to HOLA
youth between the ages of 6-19. The functions include curriculum planning,
in class instruction, prep and clean-up for each class, and mentoring youth.
**

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:

- Create and implement class syllabus
- Provide exceptional art instruction
- Act as a mentor and role model for students, parents, and peers as an
artist, teacher and citizen
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for HOLA youth
- Contribute to the cleanliness and organization of the HOLA Art Studio
- Teach Summer Art Program
- Work collaboratively with HOLA Visual Art staff in the studio and on
special projects.

*Qualifications:*

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work
effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
- Experience working with youth
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive attitude, flexible mindset
- A strong desire to interface with youth
- College degree in a related field
- MFA or MA in art or art education is a plus
- Acts ethically, responsibly and with utmost integrity
- Passion for teaching and learning
