Leimert Phone Co.
The Leimert Phone Company (LPC) is a collaborative design project between USC and Kaos Network comprised of students and artists in Leimert Park, that started in early 2013. The project's goal is to repurpose public payphones to encourage civic engagement and interaction, cultural and neighborhood awareness, promote financial wealth and ownership, and highlight artists of any discipline within the neighborhood.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

LPC will be presenting its inaugural repurposed public payphone very soon, and is seeking artists to create a wall and Pay Phone design for the grand opening event. Successful artists must demonstrate the vision, experience and professional qualifications required to create public art on walls and in this case, incorporating or relating to the classic Pay Phone, in the design. This process includes execution of artwork in the public realm, enhancing the visual aspect of new technology, producing engaging/positive/progressive art that is durable and will withstand the Elements for 3-6 months without touch-ups, and illustrates the spirit of community. Team applications should demonstrate the qualifications of its individual team members, as well as their qualifications to work together on projects.
