Eligibility: The call is open to all emerging artists working in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties. All forms of painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital and installation art are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. All submitted art pieces should fall under the theme of "Our Urban Ocean," so pieces having to do with our ports, human uses of the ocean (i.e. scuba diving, water sports, beach activities), marine life affected by the urban ocean, and/or ocean pollution. The theme of your work should be how you see the urbanized coast and ocean and what it means to you.

The Arts Council for Long Beach (Arts Council) is seeking proposals for
temporary exhibitions and
site-specific installations for a new visual art gallery in downtown Long
Beach. Artists, curators, directors,
as well as gallery, museum and public art professionals are invited to
apply. In addition, non-profit,
visual arts organizations may explore the use of the gallery as a satellite,
or primary exhibition space.
Established in 1981, the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency¹s Percent for
Public Art Policy requires developers to contribute
a percentage of project costs to the creation of public art. In fulfillment
of their obligation, Lyon Communities has elected to
create a visual art gallery for their new development: gallery421 in
downtown Long Beach.
The Los Angeles Bi Task Force (LABTF) has a CALL-OUT for any bi/fluid/pansexual men and women with creative talent! We are organizing a mini Bi Arts Fest on Thursday, September 23rd at 7:30pm for Celebrate Bisexuality Day Weekend. This will be at the Village @ Ed Gould Plaza at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center.

India's Jaipur International Film Festival seeks film submissions in feature, short, documentary and animation categories. Deadline: October 31.
In 2010, JIFF screened 87 movies (out of 350 submissions) and presented 12 awards. The festival includes a red carpet film festival award ceremony, galas, fashion shows and screenings. A workshop on cinema in Jaipur will run in advance of the festival, from October 12 to 16.

Authentic Contemporary Art (ACA), a five year old virtual and community-based resource for contemporary art by emerging artists announces a new partnership with the Center for Green Urbanism to showcase exhibitions of contemporary art. The Center is a new business incubator providing office space for small to mid-size businesses and start-ups interested in locating in Ward 7 in far northeast Washington, DC. The Center is located at 3938 Benning Road NE on the edge of Fort Mahan Park, a national park site and gateway to the Fort Circle Park Trail. The building is located directly across the street from the new Benning Road Library and is walking distance from the Minnesota Avenue metro stop on the orange line.
On September 21, 2010, we will be launching the largest single day new college student volunteer event in the country. We are looking for muralists to help us design art in early September for some local schools and shelters to be painted by our students.
