LA Commons is partnering with KAOS Network to produce the 6th Annual Day of the Ancestors: Festival of Masks in Leimert Park. The festival is inspired by West African and Diaspora mask and procession traditions and is an opportunity for community members of all ages to: honor ancestors, create art in response to issues facing the community, and celebrate living culture. Youth and community workshops take place in May and June. The project culminates with a procession and festival in Leimert Park, Sunday, June 26, 2016.
The Role of the Lead Visual Artist
1. Attend meetings and participate in story/image design process for the procession with the artistic team.

Venice Arts seeks a photographer to work on a part-time basis as a teaching
artist (Lead Photographer). Working under the direct supervision of the
Director of Education, the Lead Photographer has the following, primary
responsibilities:
· Teach 4 photography workshops each academic cycle and one in summer
· Develop age-appropriate, standards-based syllabi for each class
that supports Venice Arts’ curricular goals
· Interview, place, support, and retain volunteer artist-mentors
placed in workshops (generally three per class)
· Assure the weekly, effective management of all art and media
produced by students, using Venice Arts existing protocols
